Well you ask for it and we put our heads together and have developed a 6 month Baking Academy.
We had so many parents asked if we had classes that would help their child to advance with their baking skills. Parents were requesting techniques like: Learning to read recipes, how to properly measure ingredients, how to make cakes and icing from scratch and even how to master their piping skills. Sheila and I have spent the last couple of months working on developing a 6 month program that we feel hits all the marks. we will be offer each student everything that they need for this program.
As an added BONUS each student, starting in January, will design a cake based on the skills they have learned to be entered in the Austin Cake Show in February.
What will they get for the tuition:
14 Class sessions with our Instructors: We will be meeting one weekend a month for 6 months (We will be skipping December). August through November we will master all the skills we just discussed. January and February will be focused on design and making their competition cake.
Ingredients needed for all Class participation: We will provide all the ingredient that the students will need for each lesson in our classroom kitchen. They will be baking from mixes and from scratch. To show them not only how to follow recipes but also how to be creative in developing wonderful treats from mixes.
Supplies needed for their Competition Cake: The majority of all their supplies that they need will be provided to them to make and design their competition cake.
Personalized Apron: Each student will be given and apron that they will be required to wear in class.
Hat and Tote Bag with Academy Logo: Each student will receive a tote bag for transporting supplies to and from Class. Along with a baseball cap with the Academy logo to wear in the kitchen.
Tool Kit: Each student will receive a tool kit that will include everything they will need to be successful in this program. To name just a few items: 2 - 8" round pans, All their piping tips (estimate around 26 tips), turn table, cooling rack, several spatulas, several scrapers, cake leveler, Measuring cup and spoon, Gel colors, box, boards and much much more.
Competition Weekend T-Shirt: To represent the program
20% Discount Card: To be used by the student and parents for discounts on purchases in the Store.
In January and February there will be open lab time ($25.00 per hour) in the classroom and kitchen for students to come and work on their Cake design or just practice
Competition rules and information will come out in October/November. Parent will be responsible for getting each student and their cake to the competition and all expense relate to the travel.
We are hoping to make this a 3 year program that will allow your student to grow in all their skills from piping to Fondant and even Gum paste.
