Payment is required in advance to reserve your space in a class. Full payment must be received two weeks prior to class start date. However, new students are accepted after that date, pending class space availability.

 

If you cancel before the deadline date (two weeks prior to class), the fee is refundable or can be transferred to another class. After the deadline date, the fee is not refundable or transferable.

Private Lessons

Cake Craft Course I

Topics to be covered in this course are equipment needed, basics of baking and preparing a cake for decoration, basics of making icing, writing, simple borders, roses and other flowers, figure piping, and more.

Cost of the course:  $50 (includes starter kit)

 

Supplies needed:

No supplies needed for the first class.

Bring butter cream icing in container to the second and third classes.

Cake Craft Course II

Students will enhance the skills learned in Course I by learning fancier borders, more flowers, coloring techniques, flood work and learning to add basket weave and lattice to their designs.

 

Cost of the course:  $50 (includes starter kit)

 

Supplies needed:

Bring cake, iced smooth, to last class.

May bring one color of icing, made in advance, to each class.

No color mixing of icing will take place during class.

Bring royal icing in container to second class only if you plan to do flowers in royal.

We supply everything else, including a course book.

In this course, students will learn how to design, construct and decorate a wedding cake.

Students will learn how to decorate cookies using different icing mediums and techniques.

Students will use the basic decorating skills to make creative cupcakes.

Students will learn how to work with chocolate candy melts and candy molds to create yummy candy.

Students will learn the basics of making icing writing, simple borders and figure piping.

Cupcakes, Petit Fours & Cake Pops

Take these individual desserts to a new level! A completely hands on class! Cupcakes: Students will use a few different icing mediums, and will learn creative techniques to dress their cupcakes. Petit Fours: Students will learn to cut Petit Fours in different styles using a few different methods. They will learn how to make Petit Four icing and how to coat the tiny cakes. Students will also learn to embellish their Petit Fours with simple decorations on top.

French Pastry Class

Just in time for Valentine's Day...Students will learn to create patisserie at home! The instructor will walk you through techniques for making a variety of classic pastries and fillings, including French Macaroons. These delicate treats will win anyone's heart!

Professional Diploma Course

Introducing the PME Professional Diploma Course - "A Professional Course for Professional People!" If you have ever wanted to start your own cake decorating business, this course is for you! Cake Craft Shoppe is an Authorized Retailer of PME Professional Courses. Sheila Brooks is an authorized and approved Instructor for the PME Professional Courses. The Diploma Course is broken down into three modules: Rolled Fondant, Sugar Flowers, and Piping Techniques. Each module is 1 week long, 25 hours per week. Each module will cover basic techniques and creative styling for its subject matter, plus the basics of owning and running your own business! Each module is a complete and separate course. A PME Professional Diploma will be awarded upon completion of each module. It is not essential to complete all three modules. However, a Masters Certificate will be awarded upon completion of all three modules! The modules do not have to be taken in any particular order. Some prior experience is necessary. Basic Fondant

This course will cover tools and equipment, preparing the cake, crumb coating the cake, covering the cake (real and dummy). Students will learn how to decorate fondant cakes using borders, various drapes, brush embroidery, ruffles, lace and pearls. We supply the cake and icing for this course. The student will learn to construct this cake using buttercream icing, as well as fondant. The technique of crumb coating the cake before applying the fondant covering will also be taught. We will also provide candy clay and teach students how to make decorations with this medium.

Basic Gum Paste

The beginning gum paste class will consist of learning the tools and equipment needed for this art medium as well as learning to make the following: rose, rose leaves, ivy leaves, sweetpeas, stephanotis, daphne and color flowers. You will also learn how to wire these together.

Beginning Pulled & Blown Sugar

For those who want to learn the basics of pulled, blown and cast sugar, Cake Craft Shoppe is offering a beginner's class. Advanced Pulled & Blown Sugar

Students will weave a basket for different types of fruit, which will be blown. Different fruits will have different textures. Students will make a peacock by blowing the body and pulling the feathers. In addition, students will learn to make spun sugar. Students will be placed on a first come, first served basis. Beginning Air Brush Techniques

In this class, students will learn use and care of an airbrush (how to clean, what can and cannot be put into the gun), use of colors, techniques and different effects with an air brush. All Things Sweet...Sugar Flowers and Mini Wedding Cakes

Ever wonder what to do with the selection of cutters you already have? Well, James will put your wondering mind to rest. He will show you that cutters can be used in more ways than one! One cutter can be used to make several types of flowers. All it takes is a creative mind and an artistic eye. In this class, we will use one cutter to create Roses, Anemonies, Helleborus, Clematis and Lisianthus. James will teach you all there is to know about the sugar flower making process and answer all your questions too. You will leave this class with an opened mind and inspired by all things floral! Outstanding Opulence with Orchids

Known for his extraordinary floral expertise in the sugar arts world, James will share with you the secrets to creating magic with sugar paste...Orchids! The Cymbidium, Phaleonopsis (Moth), Vanda and Cattleya Orchids are exquisitely elegant. All the secrets will be revealed in this class through dusting, hand painting and ruffling. You'll have the opportunity to make them yourself as James takes you step by step through the process of creating your very own blooms. Students will be placed on a first come, first served basis.
